As to Nemos socialist comment:
The only real reason socialism failed is because a currupt group of people ruined it. As the game sellers (program) and the merchants can not become currupt (ok maybe with a virus) they cant go, "well Freakedout Fish, you can have a salvage kit but it will be 10k for the love of Mother Tyria. "
I am not saying this is a great solution but it is one. The programming required to rework areas to make it hard on bots, or removing the heros is not as feasable as a gold dealer in anets store.

and remember Big Brother is watching you.

This idea can be answered with one simple question.

There are only a few hundred bots and gold buyers in any given time that are not banned that have the effect on the econamy. But consider, how many gold buyers would we have if it were LEGAL?

It already is Who Has the Most Time ever anyway, and since Time = Money, why the heck not?

ANET doesn't want to sell money like this, that's why they even bother to ban accounts that buy money from a 3rd party site.

Already said but the game would turn into to who has the biggest credit card balance available. And who would actually do such a stupid thing to be "cool" in a virtual game.

luckystripe, you really should remove that picture of the monk burning himself. definitely not cool. to the topic, horrible, horrible, horrible idea. as much as i would like to see the price of stuff go up (so that i can make more money off of stuff) the extra money would be every bit as worthless because it couldn't buy you anything.

the best way to prevent players from buying gold is not banning them, its deleting their characters, all their character including the armor >

no demand = no supply.

Wow. Vicious forums.

I am new to these forums but not new to forums or the game. I found this place some time ago and just "rediscovered" it. Right away I note this : it seems the site is moderated more liberally, allowing things other sites don't. But that also allows a vicious form of conversation.

As legion stated, I don't think he came out and insulted people. And it seems to me people could make all the points above without getting personal. It is his concept, most of us agree or disagree in some form. But even in the extreme there is no need to be vicious about it.

Right now an English teacher in Sudan is in jail for allowing the kids in her class to name a teddy bear "Mohamed", and the local Sudanese are asking for her death. As ridiculous as it might sound to us, this thread is close to the same.

Gold selling could be "legalized". And it would not mean the end of the world, or GW as we know it. Prices would go up, but so does the availability of gold. And you DON'T need the gold to play the game. You can get the armor you need, and all the stuff you need from drops and materials salvaged. So instead of 500K/ecto now is 2Mill/ecto. Guess what? I don't have a single one, and I have played for two years. "But you don't have a Ferrari!", I never wanted to have one in the first place.

You bring to the game the concept that having the most is the goal. No. It is a GAME. I like the mini pet because it is cute. I like my particular armor because I do. I like my Axe because I like the skin on it. Be it 100g, or 10Mill.

I only spent 75K on vanity armor one time. And I still think it was a waste.

If the moderators here are allowing more space for expression, we can just TRY to use it in a positive way, no?

its like illigal drugs imo.

its happening all the time i agree, but if you legalize it and promote it then more people will use it so it jsut makes a bigger mess.

Legalized drinking is not a bigger mess.

Legalized smoking is not a bigger mess. (Is bad for you, but thats another story)

Illegal things that are made legal can be better controlled. Illegal guns means only criminals have guns. Legal guns allow control.

But I know we are going to disagree in all those, so lets not go there.

Getting eBay and some web sites to not allow adds on selling gold DID NOT eliminate gold selling or bots. And I don't expect that it will. The only thing that will eliminate gold selling and bots is the availability of those things. Then, nobody has to buy from the "criminals".

They will, if the thing is cheaper.

Will you buy a legal gun for 1000 or an ilegal one for 10?
ome will chose legal, but many others will choose cheap.

Thank you Slaponte. It amazes me the way well over half the people who disagreed with me never gave a real reason only that I am somehow a failure at life. To the people that actually debated and gave reasons. thank you.

To the others.....

It won't help, just more bots to produce gold

as for the people saying: it will turn in a game whoever has got the biggest CC
It already is, just not many people use the e-bay feature ..

I support this idea. Those with bots and all virtual gold sellers funnel money to terrorists. Anet doesn't!

That won't take the money away from the bots. The bots will just decrease the price of their gold so that it's less than that of the ANet store. I think that this is a terrible idea. It will only take the fun out of the game because people can get what they want by buying it. Plus, the people with more money (in real life) will be able to buy more stuff than others.

NC-Soft does not want the Bots gone (A-net does), they keep buying new games and keep the statistics looking good.
